MLA Citation Basics

Two Parts--In Text and Works Cited Page

In Text: 

(Author pg.#) after quote, paraphrase, statistic, lyric, etc.

If no page number just the author; if no author first 2-3 words of the title.

Example:

 Before 1820, the rural community accounted for eighty percent of the consumption of farmers’ goods (Hurt 127).
