Readers' Advisory

Come on in to Pesky and let us find the perfect read for you. We offer Readers' Advisory services to all members of the community. Readers' Advisory brings you reading (listening) recommendations tailored to your preferences. We frequently start from a book or author that you liked (or didn't like) and explore choices from there.

Some common starting points for identifying a new read are:

  • genre
  • character
  • setting & location
  • time frame/time period
  • theme/topic

Sometimes the perfect choice is a "title read-alike" or an "author readalike." Read-alikes share attributes with the starting book or author, so there is likely to be a strong similarity in important aspects of each.

There are many good online sources for suggestions. Some of our favorite tools are listed below. You can also find more advice for kids, teens, and adults in the menu to the left. You will also find a form to help you identify the qualities of your next great read. It is meant to help you narrow in on what you'd like to read.
